Abass
was born into a family of well known royal drummers. At the age of 6yrs,
he was inspired by his grandmother who tried to teach him drums by singing
the rhythms. He then went on to be formally trained by his uncle, the
famous Ghanaian master drummer Mustapha Tettey Addy. Abass started playing
with the Royal Obonu Drummers at the age of 10yrs and has performed with
the group across Africa, Europe and the USA. Abass has been delivering
workshops, performance and team building events for the past 30 years,
nationally and internationally and brings with him a great understanding
and awareness of his African cultural heritage.
