Visit to the Schools Proms - Royal Albert Hall
A BMS Student's Perspective

On Monday 9th November, I, along with members of Junior Ensemble North Centre, the Concert Band and Senior Strings Orchestra, visited the Royal Albert Hall to watch the Schools Proms Concert.

We assembled at Wembley Park Tube Station at 5:30pm and set off on the Metropolitian line. We got off at Baker Street and transferred onto the Circle line. We were very packed in the tube. After getting off at South Kensington station, we walked to the Royal Albert Hall.

During the concert, we saw and heard many interesting things. Because we were seated in the top rows on the side, we couldn't see much. However, the quality of the music was very good. All the musicians were still in school, either studying at Primary, Secondary, College, or University. And they had come from all over UK to perform at this event.

There were many performances, of instrumental music, of singing, of dance, and of percussion. One performance I remember was the one performed by the Special School. Even though they were having trouble with learning, they still performed beautifully with drums and percussion instruments.

The end of the concert was really exciting. The orchestra played the national anthem, then the balloons dropped from the ceiling and fireworks banged. When the balloons landed, the people at the bottom started popping them. Even the conductor was playing with the balloons!

We had a wonderful time that evening despite some traveling difficulties on the way home!
