Junior Fest 2009 - Brent Town Hall
A BMS Performer's

When I arrived at Brent Town hall I was really nervous but excited at the same time- what if I dropped my bow? What if I slipped on the stage?

Inside the hall we hurriedly registered, and went into our dressing rooms. It was really hard going up the stairs with my cello; I couldn’t see where I was going! In our dressing room, we speedily got our things together, and went back downstairs, to the auditorium. We zoomed through a quick rehearsal and went to our seats while the audience filed in. Minutes later the auditorium was filled with people of all ages.

It was soon time for my ensemble to perform, I felt truly excited. We had to be extremely quiet while we walked backstage, but it was difficult because we wanted to talk about the pieces that had been played. I had been impressed by the choir’s ‘This Old Man’ because I thought that they really kept in time.

As I walked onto the stage, I was raring to go. As the conductor raised her baton, I was ready to play. Our first piece was the Star Wars theme tune, and we played very well.  Our second piece was run, and we played with a lot more feeling, and the audience gave us a huge cheer.

As we gave our bow, I felt extremely proud of our performance.

Later on in the evening, all the ensembles joined together and played ‘Money, Money, Money’. Our conductor helped us to give a very energetic performance.

Emile Misquita and Kieran Varjavand from Junior Musician of the Year 2009 competition both played their pieces.  Emile coped well considering that the keyboard stopped working halfway through his piece!

Overall it was a very exciting evening filled with amazing performances.
