The First BMS Junior Fest 2009 - What A Fantastic Evening!

A musical feast was enjoyed by all at the Brent Music Service Junior Fest 2009.  Held at Brent Town Hall on the evening of 9th July, over 150 young performers aged 8-13 presented a showcase of musical talent to an enthusiastic 500+ strong audience.

The youngsters performed like seasoned professionals, with effortless stage changes and well-crafted choreography.  The evening was a true credit to the performers and indeed their tutors and the organising team for the event.

NEW! A Review from a Performer's Perspective

The Programme
Informatively presented by Jody Sapsard, the programme included TV themes, film music, jazz, rock, gospel and classical, all designed to showcase the many vocal and instrumental groups that make up the three evening centres run by Brent Music Service.  The junior choir, guitar ensembles, gospel singers and the combined string, woodwind and brass sounds of the BMS Junior ensembles were then delighted to welcome to the stage, Emile Misquita (trumpet) and Kieran Varjavand (guitar) - the BMS Junior Musician of the Year 2009 Gold Medallists.  As expected both gold medallists gave remarkable performances as the special guest soloists for the event.

The Finale
The evening was drawn to a close with a spectacular finale which not only involved all 150 young performers, but the 500+ strong audience too, with a unique rendition of the African styled ‘Felile’.

The whole event gave an unquestionable tribute to the importance music plays in the lives of Brent’s youngsters.  The smiling faces of performers and audience alike was proof enough that ‘where there’s music there’s pride, enjoyment and achievement’.
