Background Info:

Indira is a Year 10 student at Bentley Wood School.  She has private cello lessons with Melissa Phelps and she has been awarded a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music.

The Start of a Talent
Indira began playing the cello at the age of 4 and added learning the piano aged 12.

Special Playing Memories
Her most exciting performance so far include playing the Boccerini Cello Concerto with the Jupiter Chamber Orchestra in 2007, sharing the stage in 2008 with her sister Savitri (Brent Young Musician of the Year 2007 winner) whilst performing the premiere of Francis Grier's (her Father) composition 'Double Concerto' with the Sarum Orchestra and the Jupiter Chamber Orchestra.

Indira has also won competitions at the North London Festival and The Royal Academy of Music.

Music Preferences
Indira enjoys listening to classical music, Ella Fitzgerald and The Beatles. 

Inspiration
Her favourite cellist is Jacqueline du Pre who has been her inspiration ever since hearing her performance of the Elgar Cello Concerto,

The Future
Indira hopes to study music at the Royal College of Music and ultimately become a professional soloist.
