Brent Youth String Orchestra
The Brent Youth String Orchestra rehearses and performs a repertoire of music from classical to film and TV to contemporary and traditional, and much more besides, this ensemble gives regular concerts and has performed at Wembley Arena.

What does the Brent Youth String Orchestra do?
This string orchestra is a fantastic way to further develop your playing skills in a group environment.  Being able to work as part of a larger team offers a brilliant contrast to your individual instrument practise.  A great way to experience new sounds and an endless range of musical styles from all eras.  

What instruments are included?
Following the format of a traditional string orchestra, the Brent String Orchestra includes violins, violas, cellos and Double Bass.  To find out exactly which instruments this means, visit our Stringed Instruments section to look at the instruments in detail.

Where does it take place?
The Brent Youth String Orchestra takes place at the following BMS Evening Centre: 
BMS Claremont Evening Centre on Mondays 7.00pm-9.00pm

How old do I have to be?
The Brent Youth String Orchestra is open to all 11-19 year olds who meet the entry requirements.

How much does it cost?
£50 annual membership

How do you join?
Firstly, your playing standard needs to be at a minimum equivalent of Grade 3.

Entry is open to all 11-19 year olds (who meet the required playing standard on an appropriate instrument) through a simple audition process.  Alternatively, you may also be invited to attend through your Brent Music Service instrument tutor if you have one.

Your ability is assessed to ensure that you are at a playing level which enables you to make the most of the benefits of the Brent Youth String Orchestra.  The audition also enables you to be appropriately placed within the string orchestra.
